Job overview:

Heywood Middleton & Rochdale is a dynamic and forward thinking Borough and we are seeking to recruit a full time band 4 Bladder & Bowel nursing associate/ assistant practitioner to join our Integrated Neighborhood Teams Directorate


Main duties of the job:

Communicate effectively with dignity and respect to all patients, relatives and others giving consideration to potential barriers to understanding.

Communicate effectively with colleagues, providing clear verbal, digital or written information and instructions when sharing information, delegating or handing over responsibility for care.

deliver a high standard of nursing care contributing to the ongoing assessment Prioritise and manage own workload

Provide compassionate, safe and effective care and support to patients in a range of care settings.

Direct patient care, monitor the condition and health needs of patients within their care on a continual basis in partnership with patients, families and carers, ensuring appropriate escalation to a registered nurse when required.


Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently within a variety of community environments will be crucial to the success of this role.


In addition the post holder will have opportunity to contribute to the ongoing transformation and on-going development of our Integrated Neighbourhood Teams.

Essential Qualifications:


Essential criteria:


  • Foundation degree (Nursing Associate)
  • GCSE Maths/English grade C or above or functional Maths and English
  • Nursing Associate on NMC Register

Knowledge & Skills:


Essential criteria:


  • Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate
  • Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code
  • Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice
  • Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans

Desirable criteria:


  • Undertake a range of diagnostic investigations and procedures relevant to area of work within defined Trust protocols, e.g. bladder scans, urinalysis
  • To be responsible for continence product reviews of routine cases for patients in their own homes, nursing and residential care settings, reporting appropriate issues to the continence clinician
- knowledge of continence products available in line with evidence based practice advising patients and carers as appropriate
