Contract: 30 hours per week Temporary up to 31 December 2025

In preparation for the rollout of the Government's Childcare Expansion Programme, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Early Years Funding Support Officer providing support to Early Years Childcare Providers in North Yorkshire.


The role


As an Early Years Funding Support Officer you will be part of a team that assists the 'Early Years Funding Manager' and the 'Head of Finance - Schools, Early Years & High Needs' in the early years provider funding processes across a range of maintained, private, voluntary and independent settings.

You will be part of the team that oversees, manages and monitors the government funding paid to childcare providers.

This involves undertaking the termly headcount process, the provision of advice and guidance to providers and parents on the funding process and policy, and responding to funding queries raised by providers, parents and other stakeholders.


What you will bring

Have proven experience in the following areas:

  • Managing systems to track and report data, implementing effective auditing and quality assurance processes, working in financial management and/or a commercially-minded service area, managing stakeholder relationships in challenging and sensitive situations.
  • Good communication skills, verbal & written, including the ability to use different methods according to service users' and professionals' differing needs.
  • Ability to implement new ways of working. Excellent level of IT literacy, sufficient to manipulate and create documents and spread sheets to input and track data for measuring performance. Ability to pay attention to detail when working with inputting data.
  • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
