We are presently seeking to fill a Vehicle SBOM / IPC (Service Bill of Materials / Illustrated Parts Catalogue) Author role.
You will join a friendly and innovative team working with a global automotive manufacturer to deliver technical publications, including user guides, owner manuals, service and repair methods, workshop manuals, illustrated parts catalogues and dealer documentation.
What you'll be doing:
- Produce and maintain SBOM and Illustrated Parts Catalogues which will be used by our customers worldwide network.
- Aircraft Maintenance Manual Procedures: Authoring procedures and using CAD modelled graphics to develop timed Aircraft Maintenance Manual procedures.
- Other Documentation: All other 'adhoc' publications as necessary
For example:
Work instructions, kit installation instructions, equipment operating instructions, diagnostic procedures, form design, etc.
Your Skills and Experience:
- Experience of authoring in an Aerospace or Automotive environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word (using document templates and styles).
- Good Microsoft Excel skills.
- An eye for detail and accuracy in both writing and document formatting and layout.
- Write in a 'tone' for the target audience.
- Produce documents using a combination of methods from various data sources.
- Strong personal skills, able to work individually and/or within a team.
- Engineering knowledge, able to read and understand technical drawings, engineering processes and liaise with engineering personnel.
- A good understanding of how to behave in a customerfacing environment.
- Must have the ability to work as an individual and/or as part of a team.
- If you have already had training in S1000D, Simplified Technical English, Adobe Illustrator, XMetaL or other relevant tools, it would be highly beneficial.
- Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE100).
Desired but not essential:
- Plain English.
- Knowledge of Cortona3D would be highly beneficial.
- Using Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Using 3D Modelling software.
- Knowledge of HTML and web editing.
- Graphics knowledge using Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Knowledge of commercial print processes and dealing with printing companies.
- Knowledge of translation processes using external agencies and working with translated documents.
