We are presently seeking to fill a Vehicle SBOM / IPC (Service Bill of Materials / Illustrated Parts Catalogue) Author role.

You will join a friendly and innovative team working with a global automotive manufacturer to deliver technical publications, including user guides, owner manuals, service and repair methods, workshop manuals, illustrated parts catalogues and dealer documentation.

What you'll be doing:

Produce and maintain SBOM and Illustrated Parts Catalogues which will be used by our customers worldwide network.
Aircraft Maintenance Manual Procedures: Authoring procedures and using CAD modelled graphics to develop timed Aircraft Maintenance Manual procedures.
Other Documentation: All other 'adhoc' publications as necessary

For example:
Work instructions, kit installation instructions, equipment operating instructions, diagnostic procedures, form design, etc.

Your Skills and Experience:

Experience of authoring in an Aerospace or Automotive environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Word (using document templates and styles).
Good Microsoft Excel skills.
An eye for detail and accuracy in both writing and document formatting and layout.
Write in a 'tone' for the target audience.
Produce documents using a combination of methods from various data sources.
Strong personal skills, able to work individually and/or within a team.
Engineering knowledge, able to read and understand technical drawings, engineering processes and liaise with engineering personnel.
A good understanding of how to behave in a customerfacing environment.
Must have the ability to work as an individual and/or as part of a team.
If you have already had training in S1000D, Simplified Technical English, Adobe Illustrator, XMetaL or other relevant tools, it would be highly beneficial.
Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE100).

Desired but not essential:

Plain English.
Knowledge of Cortona3D would be highly beneficial.
Using Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Using 3D Modelling software.
Knowledge of HTML and web editing.
Graphics knowledge using Photoshop and Illustrator.
Knowledge of commercial print processes and dealing with printing companies.
Knowledge of translation processes using external agencies and working with translated documents.
