Applications are invited from registered Medical Practitioners for a Clinical Teaching Fellow post, within the department of Department of Obstetrics and General Gynaecology in Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a fixed term post, for a period of 12 months which will commence in August 2023


This post would suit an individual with an interest in medical education, an awareness of the undergraduate curriculum relating to Reproductive Health, and a desire to expand their teaching skills and experience.

The post includes the opportunity to undertake a formal qualification in Medical Education through the (Certificate or Diploma) during their employment within the Trust.

The Clinical Teaching Fellow will join the wider group of teaching fellows within the Trust in supporting the assessment and examination of students at certain points in the year and will be expected to be available for these specified dates.

On average, there will be 5 teaching sessions and 5 clinical/professional development sessions per week.

This post does not have an on-call commitment, but there would be opportunities for locum on call shifts, which would enhance the experience for the post holder within the specialty.

The main clinical duties are to support a busy obstetric department (approximately 2000 deliveries per year) and to support in O&G surgical lists and outpatient clinics.

Specialist clinics and training can be arranged according to career interests.
