We have a fantastic opportunity for a Credit Control Team Leader to join our team based in Stockport.

The salary on offer is £38,000 - £42,000 per annum dependent on experience, with eligibility to our bonus scheme of up to 10%, and a 6% matched pension.


About the role:


Reporting to the Order to Cash Manager, the Credit Control Team Leader is responsible for leading a team with specific focus on GP and Non-NHS debt.

The departmental objectives are to minimise overdue debts, accelerate cash receipts, resolve queries & disputes promptly and to prevent bad debts.


The Credit Control Team Leader is responsible for the prompt collection of invoices arising from our property management activities including rent, service charges and facilities management costs and must possess excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to work under pressure using his/her own initiative.


This is an instrumental role in minimising the level of outstanding debt and ensuring the business credit control policies are strictly applied at all times and must act as a lead on tasks completed by the Credit Control team and train other members accordingly, supporting on GP and Non-NHS Debt in ensuring a high level of data integrity and accuracy is maintained, whilst delivering an efficient and timely service across NHS Property Services.


You will be responsible for all management tasks associated with leading a team: recruitment, day-to-day supervision & management, portfolio allocation, setting cash targets, root cause analysis reporting, performance management, appraisals, personal development plans and ensuring that training and development needs are met.


A key responsibility will be to allocate work within areas of responsibility, ensuring that absence is covered, and work is allocated fairly, and to ensure that staff are motivated and are following set procedures to achieve targets by regularly reviewing their progress and providing guidance in the resolution of queries (implementing short, medium and long-term strategies to resolve problems as necessary).

The role holder will be responsible for the collection of all high value debts of £200,000(+) to maximise the business income; ensuring that debts less than £200,000 but greater than £50,000 are chased for payment; and ensuring that collection priority is given to Reimbursable Debts and Non-Reimbursable Debts that are documented or have made Non

  • Reimbursable payment(s) in the past.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Good grades in secondary education (GCSE and preferably A Level) including Maths & English. Credit management qualification (e.g. ICM) or accounting qualification (e.g. AAT).
  • Knowledge Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word). Spreadsheet capability to include pivot tables, filters, charts & analysis. General accounting knowledge. Knowledge of our core systems (SideTrade Collections Suite, MS Dynamics NAV).
  • Previous experience in a standalone credit control function dealing with highvalue B2B debts and complex bureaucratic customers.
  • Previous experience in leading & managing a team.
  • Credit Control experience in the property management sector.
  • Credit Control experience in the public sector, especially NHS (Trusts & CCGs).
  • A high standard of numeracy to support query management and account reconciliation requirements.
  • Welldeveloped communication skills, as well as negotiating & influencing skills.
Ability to work independently, managing workloads to meet deadlines & deliverables.
