About this team

The People and Culture (P&C) team in EMEA provide business partnering, advice and guidance as well as HR operational support to 9 countries for both retail and regional head office teams to over 700 employees.

Our vision is to empower people managers to own their people initiatives, to elevate the employee experience, and to build on the foundations to support scaling.


The P&C team is split into three areas:
business partnering for Retail, business partnering for Non-Retail (e.g. head office and call centre), and a shared operations team who provide first line support to the business. The team is predominantly based in London and operates hybrid working.


A day in the life:

what you'll be doing:

The role partners with EMEA Non-Retail (regional head office and call centre teams) and predominantly builds manager capability, through training, coaching and toolkits, to empower the manager to better navigate people issues.

There will be some Employee Relation activities to support and advise on.

The role is a healthy mix of project and operational activities, giving you exposure to business partnering and a stepping stone to a Junior HRBP role.

A day in the life

  • Tactical people movements you'll manage the weekly vacancy prioritization process, and partner with the business to identify opportunities for stretch assignments to support future career progression of our employees. You'll provide salary recommendations and support on interviews as required.
  • Advise, coach and train people managers you'll conduct people manager trainings, such as on performance, and provide advice or coaching on people queries.
  • ER advice, guidance and management you'll partner with the business to help managers navigate people queries and issue, leading them through case management.
  • Biannual Engagement survey liaising with global teams, you will roll out the engagement survey for your business area, working with managers and internal communication teams to engage employees to participate. You'll run reports and analyse results, keeping the conversation alive between surveys.
  • Talent Review process and Year End you'll own the communication and engagement of this cyclical activity, and support leaders through their actions. You'll participate in talent review conversations and follow up with managers on talent actions.
  • People Reporting carryout people reporting to support talent conversations and inform project work
  • Additional Project work participate in additional P&C project work to move the business area forward.
Qualifications, skills and experience

  • Min. 3 years in generalist / HR advisory roles
  • ER experience independently supporting managers through cases
  • Experience or exposure to working across the EMEA region would be beneficial
  • Experience in supporting or leading the Talent Review process
  • Exposure to action planning in relation to Employee Opinion Surveys
  • Organisation, prioritisation and attention to detail are essential skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proactive and uses initiative, ability to thrive in fast paced ambiguous environment
  • Preferably CIPD Level 5 equivalent qualifications

Role Classification

Your role is classified as Hybrid under our global SSC Hybrid Workplace Policy.

In-person collaboration is important, and much of the role can be performed remotely. Work is performed at both the SSC office and home office every week.
