The team


As a Music Data Executive working within the ITV Music Team you will have a good understanding of the music and television industries and how they operate.

You know the differences between masters and compositions and synchronisation and performing rights.

You are creatively minded and a fast learner who can respond quickly, proactively, flexibly and effectively to meet a wide variety of creative, legal and administrative business needs.

As part of a team which manages the legal, creative and technical elements of music use at ITV.

Your day to day role is to help provide detailed data reporting and analysis, using ITV Systems and assisting all reporting, licensing and administrative support to ITV Studios and other ITV group production companies, as well as to producers supplying content for broadcast on all ITV's TV channels and online platforms, ensuring that all music usage is reporting to the music collecting societies in an accurate and timely manner.


You will liaise closely with the Heads of Music to assist with the day to day workload working on special projects associated with all aspects of music usage and requirements.


The role

  • Keeping in very close contact with the Heads of Music, Music Managers and Senior Music Executives and working together with the other Music Executives and Music Assistant on a day to day basis.
  • Working closely with our Global Distribution, Content Supply and Rights teams and advising and updating them on programme music rights assessments and summaries.
  • Working collaboratively and closely with our music publishing partners to help promote the commissioning and inclusion of ITV owned music in ITV Studios productions.
  • Assisting the Heads of Music with the rollout of the Smarter Use of Music (SUM) strategy to inhouse and independent producers making programmes for ITV.
  • Assisting with the daytoday operation and maintenance of ITV's music reporting systems, offering Production staff training and guidance on the effective use of these systems and ensuring the timely and accurate submission of music cue sheets to the music collecting societies.
  • Assisting with the daytoday management, maintenance and updating of ITV's internal music clearance system, databases and cloud based music delivery systems and document management and rights management systems.
  • Assisting with ad hoc projects and reporting and rights analysis.
  • Organising the archiving of all music related contracts and licenses and organising payments where necessary.
  • Collecting and compiling data on music use in ITV content to support a range of ITV departments including Music, Distribution, Rights and Finance.

Skills you'll need (minimum criteria)

  • 23 years working within the music industry preferably within a broadcast music team or for a music publisher, record label or music collecting society or for a music supervision company within an administration capacity (ideally legal)
  • A good working knowledge of music licensing and copyright including and understanding of the differences between masters and compositions, mechanical, synchronisation and performing rights and an understanding of the mandates held by the music societies which enable the use and exploitation of music in television programmes.
  • Proficient in working with spreadsheets, numbers and data
