Job Description - Volunteer Coordinator

Location:
Office based with a home-working option


Hours:10 per week


Contract:
Initial 2 years fixed term contract


Salary:
A starting salary of£ £6 656 per annum

About Hammersley Homes

Main purpose of this role


To lead the development and successful delivery of the volunteer programme, to meet Hammersley Homes' operational needs and individual development needs.

This will include the recruitment, support, development and recognition of volunteers.

Working in close partnership with the Outreach Programme Manager, under the direction of the
CEO, the role will also involve the management of associated projects and programmes and supporting policies and procedures.


Principle duties

  • Specific duties and tasks within the broad JD will be agreed annually with the
    CEO._
  • Research and write volunteer policies and procedures, including risk assessments, in collaboration with the Outreach Programme Manager.
  • Generate appropriate volunteering opportunities and role descriptions, based upon operational needs, in collaboration with the Outreach Programme Manager.
  • Promote volunteering opportunities through recruitment and publicity strategies and campaigns.
  • Carry out prevolunteering checks, including reference and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with the Outreach Programme Manager and Office Manager, to organise rotas and provide inductions and training, as well as debrief interviews for departing volunteers.
  • Ensure there is appropriate support and training for volunteers through regular informal contact and more structured reviews.
  • Monitor, support, motivate and recognise volunteers and their work.
  • Celebrate volunteering by nominating volunteers for awards, within Hammersley Homes and externally, and organise celebration events.
  • Organise profileraising events to attract new volunteers.
  • Attend meetings.
  • Keep up to date with legislation and policy related to volunteering generally.
  • Ensure that Hammersley Homes' policies and procedures are developed and followed, specifically those policies and procedures relating to the volunteer programme, operational need, Safeguarding, GDPR and Inclusion and Diversity, to enable effective and safe operation of our Services and development of volunteers.
  • Work with multiple agencies across different sectors in order to establish good working relationships, share best practice and influence decisions about volunteering.
  • Monitor and evaluate activities by establishing KPIs and benchmarks to evaluate the volunteer journey, experience and outcomes, in collaboration with the Outreach Programme Manager
  • Support the
    CEO in the identification of funding opportunities and the preparation and submission of funding bids, to secure funding to support and further develop the volunteer programme.

Person Specification

Qualifications/Experience

  • A Level or equivalent qualifications, or experience which is equivalent to this qualification level. (Essential)
  • A driving license. (Essential)
  • A proven track record in coordinating and/or managing volunteer programmes, either in a paid or voluntary capacity. (Desirable)
  • Experience of establishing and building relationships with external organisations. (Essential)
  • Experience of delivering effective marketing & communication campaigns. (Desirable)
  • Experience of using volunteer management systems. (Desirable)

Skills, Abilities and Knowledge

  • A good understanding of the work of Hammersley Homes and a commitment to the vision and mission. (Essential)
  • An approachable and friendly disposition with a clear understanding of professional boundaries. (Essential)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills at group and individual level, and the ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals with diverse needs. (Essential)
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work independently and with initiative. (Essential)
  • An understanding of best practice in relation to Safeguarding, GDPR and Equality and Diversity. (Desirable, full training will be given)
  • Comprehensive IT skills. (Essential)
  • Able to work flexible hours to suit the needs of our volunteers. (Essential)

Job Types:
Part-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 24 months

Part-time hours: 10 per week
