Job Description Summary:

Based at our HVDC Transformer Centre of Excellence in Stafford, UK - The DFME&Q Leader will lead the activities that will ensure the product is designed according to manufacturing best practices and capabilities.

You will also ensure that the design is properly transferred to manufacturing and that our design processes fully meet the quality gates and applicable quality controls.

The role will entail close alignment with Manufacturing, Sourcing and Industrial Engineering functions, as well as other key stakeholders.

  • Work with design department to proactively design of transformers for ease of manufacturing and efficient E&C
  • Partner with product designers, safety, materials management, quality and operations to deliver and execute manufacturing solutions.
  • Provide ongoing product design input for DFMA, drive manufacturing process development with a focus on lean principles.
  • Support Analysis of manufacturing process to determine the manufacturing cost during design stage to reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Participate in process improvements, standardised work, handson errorproofing and investigation and rootcause analysis.
  • Ensure and support the proper execution of the Design Quality Gates and Controls in accordance with internal procedures.
  • Able to analyse quality data to determine effective corrective actions and monitor improvements over time.
  • Continuously update our manufacturing capabilities and tolerances and ensures they are properly considered in the design.
  • Support on Training Program to shopfloor workers, design engineers and process engineers
  • Support the introduction of new designs in manufacturing.
  • Research improvements in the industry to identify better manufacturing solutions to continuously improve designs.

Required Skills & Experience:


  • Extensive Transformer Manufacturing knowledge and experience
  • Extensive continuous improvement and quality process knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of Transformer design process
