We are currently working with a top rated large Independent School in Hampstead, London who are looking for a
School Facilities Manager to join their team.


Overall summary of the
School Facilities Manager:

You will report to the Head of Operations (Estates and Facilities), and play a key role in the effective operation of the Estates team.

The post-holder should have facilities management experience and be committed to reducing the environmental impact ofthe School's activities and implementing value for money.


The
School Facilities Manager will be responsible for:


  • Managing the Estates Helpdesk, taking overall responsibility for providing an effective and efficient caretaking service for the school
  • Ensuring that the School's grounds are welcoming, wellmaintained, safe and suitable for school use.
  • Managing all aspects of health and safety with overall responsibility for all aspects of health and safety operations including risks assessments, compliance checks, fire safety and emergency planning
  • Overseeing external lettings and school events, ensuring they are booked in, well organised and adequately supported ensuring high level of customer satisfaction
  • Supporting the Head of Operations in managing all soft services including catering, cleaning, washrooms, security, PE and play equipment maintenance and repair
  • Line managing a team of nine comprising 5 caretakers, two front of house and two parttime gardeners.

Responsibilities of the
School Facilities Manager:


  • _
    Estates Help Desk
  • _ Deliver an efficient and effective Estates Help Desk service, providing a high-level customer focused service that meets the needs of all school users.

Grounds_

  • Ensure that the School's grounds are welcoming, wellmaintained, safe and suitable for school use, overseeing the work of the gardeners and the caretakers.
- _
Soft Services & Compliance_
  • Oversee the day to day management of soft services and compliance related contracts including cleaning, washrooms, telephones, waste management, mailing, fire and security, play safety, water testing.

Health and Safety_
  • Take overall responsibility for all aspects of health and safety, working closely with the Head of Operations and Director of Finance & Operations

Lettings, Licences and Events_
  • Oversee lettings, commercial activities and events

Supporting the Head of Operations_

Line Management Manage and support a high performing team of 9 - _1 resident caretaker, 3 full-time caretakers, 1 weekend caretaker, 1 front of house administrator, 1 security officer and 2 parttime gardeners

Who are we looking for - person specification:

  • At least four years relevant experience, preferably in a School or similar environment
  • A degree or equivalent work experience
  • Have or be willing to train for D1 Driving Entitlement to support the maintenance of the School minibuses
  • Demonstrated experience of managing people and contractors
  • Adept at building relationships with soft services suppliers and others
  • Member of relevant professional institutions (IWFM, IOSH), holding a NEBOSH General Certificate working towards NEBOSH Diploma
  • Personable, proactive, resilient, forward thinking with a cando attitude
  • Able to multitask with an eye for detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of health and safety and a school compliance environment.
Hours, salary & benefits for the
School Facilities Manager:


  • Working hours:_The position is full-time with normal working hours from 9am to 5pm. In general, the post-holder is expected to work flexibly and put in the hours required to complete the job including some work at weekends. Holidaysto be taken in consultation with the line manager.

Salary:_Depending on experience a salary is being offered between £38, ,000.00 per annum ( hourly rate for temp to perm £ per hour) plus benefits 26 days holiday plus Bank Holidays
