We are pleased to advertise the post of a Clarke/typist into our clinical chemistry department.The clinical chemistry administration team is busy department.
This post will be to support our medical secretaries with typing, admin and dealing with telephone enquiries amongst other duties.
As a clerk typist in the clinical chemistry department, your role will be to support and liaise with the departments medical secretary's.
The clerk/typist will work closely with the medical secretaries to ensure all referrals and appointments are made in accordance with 18 week guidelines.
The clerk/typist must have good telephone communication skills, acting in an professional manner.
The clerk/typist will be liaising and communicating with members of the multidisciplinary team.
The clerk/typist will be expected to problem solve with the support of the team.

To provide full clerical/audio typing support to the relevant department ensuring a high standard of duties are maintained and deadlines met.
- Type dictation from audio transcription of clinical correspondence and
- Type discharge summaries as appropriate.
- Liaise with medical secretary of speciality accordingly, to ensure appropriate follow up arrangements/investigations are in place.
- Ensure all referrals and appointments are made in accordance with 18 week guidelines in liaison with medical secretaries
- Ensure all outgoing post is sent out timely and accurately.
- Assist the directorate in providing quality administrative support to the clinical teams.
- Accurate and timely input of basic data as required.
- Filing of test results appropriately in a timely manner.
- Ensure all letters and discharge summaries are copied to the appropriate
- Retrieve, collect and book out case-notes as required.
- Photocopying/faxing and all general office duties
- Attend appropriate training, meetings and education sessions when required
- Work with managers and administrative staff to review working practices, ways of working and find solutions to problems
- Work with team leaders/secretaries/managers to improve quality and range of services, with resources being managed according to agreed policies and procedures.
- The post holder shall as necessary provide cover for and undertake duties of absent colleagues.
