We are working with the Metropolitan Police Service to recruit a Head of Integrated Design and Delivery into their organisation, on a permanent basis


This is an exciting time to be working for the Transformation Directorate as they support the Met to adapt and respond to the ever-changing needs of policing our capital city.


What does it take to work in the Transformation Directorate?


You will be expected to be the centre of Transformation expertise for the Met; supporting the programmes and projects within the portfolio to deliver change, to optimise the realisation of benefits and meet the strategic objectives through effective programmeand project management guidance and best practice principles.


As a member of the Transformation Directorate's Senior Leadership Team, you will lead the Integrated Design and Delivery function by overseeing business analysis, design and insights to ensure the Met is at the cutting edge of policing trends and innovationand remains responsive, relevant and aligned to future demand.

You will be the guardian for the Met's Operating Model effectiveness, leading reviews to assess functionality and providing recommendations for change.


Key responsibilities:


  • Be an integral part of the Senior Leadership Team of TD, contributing to management decisions and development activities, helping to foster, grow and support change delivery in the Met
  • Lead Integrated Design and Delivery and external sources of support to develop an integrated mix of specialists needed for this area
  • Champion, implement and assure integrated business design across the Met, supporting the vision to attain a worldclass transformation capability. Assure the design aspects of all business cases submitted to Portfolio & Investment Board
  • Provide overall direction and leadership for Integrated Design and Delivery to provide and/or assure quality outputs that enable programmes and the portfolio to achieve their outcomes & to proactively support the wider operational colleagues across theMPS to design and test new ideas to help achieve better policing outcomes for London
  • Lead Integrated Design and Delivery as it supports the wider business in problem identification, analysis and diagnostic activities
  • Shaping operating model design and effectiveness, to determine the shape of the future Met
  • Work with others extensively across the Met, ensuring a thorough understanding of how the Met's Operating Model works in practice

Essential skills and experience:


You will be able to evidence the following:

  • Demonstrable senior leadership and a strong track record in leading business design activities across a large scale portfolio of change programmes
  • Examples of having led futures and creativity, scenario planning and strategy teams and a thorough understanding of their applicable methodologies, including advantages and disadvantages of the various models
  • Exposure to complex operating model delivery and design and agile delivery methodology and fluency
  • Experience in creating and managing commercial relationships in a complex supply chain, assuring quality and delivering value for money
  • Experience of leading teams in large and complex organisations, including project, programme and experimental change
  • Exposure to policing and criminal justice issues (Desirable)
