Background of department/role

  • An excellent opportunity to join the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Social Care (FMHSC) Business Operations and Finance Team providing efficient and effective administrative support to our Expert by Experience (EBE) personnel. The post will facilitate effective working relations between the faculty and EBE personnel from onboarding through to payment.
  • As part of the Business Operations and Finance team the role holder will also be expected to also support on a broad range of business operations functions, including processing travel and procurement requests, maintaining supplies on behalf of the professional services teams, and supporting the administration of continuing professional development (CPD) workshops.
  • The post holder will be expected to act as the initial point of contact for any related queries and work closely with other team members and other professional services teams to provide support and guidance to EBE personnel and academic colleagues, signposting to other services across the University as appropriate.
  • To be successful in this role you will be a confident communicator with an excellent customer service ethos. Good organisation skills and the ability to work under own initiate with effective time management whilst maintain data accuracy are paramount.

You will be educated to GCSE standard (or equivalent) or have relevant experience of providing direct support in a professional office or similar environment.

Knowledge of the high education sector and Expert by Experience role would be desirable as well as well-developed skills in Microsoft Office programmes (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders.

It is expected that there will be a relatively even balance between time spent on and off campus; but in most cases the work location will be determined by the service required or the tasks/activities being undertaken.


The expectations for working on campus within the Business Operations and Finance Team is defined as a minimum of half of working hours on campus.
