Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (Term time only)

AK Teaching is seeking an energetic and dedicated Sports Coach with a passion for supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) to join our team as a Learning Support Assistant at a SEN school located in the vibrant West End of Newcastle.

This role offers a unique opportunity for individuals with a background in sports coaching to contribute to the academic and personal development of students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in facilitating general classroom activities and providing support to students with SEN.
Utilise sports coaching skills and techniques to engage students and promote physical activity and wellbeing.
Collaborate with teaching staff to create inclusive learning environments tailored to individual student needs.
Support students with a range of special educational needs and challenging behaviours, including autism and ADHD.
Offer 1:1 support to students as needed, addressing specific learning goals and objectives.
Foster positive relationships with students, staff, and parents to enhance the overall learning experience.

Requirements:

Previous experience working with learners with autism, ADHD, and other special educational needs is advantageous.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to diverse learning styles and needs.
Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to supporting students' academic and personal development.
Flexible approach to work and willingness to assist with various classroom tasks beyond sports coaching duties.
