The main duties of the roles will be to provide practical and emotional support to refugees who may have complex needs who are resettling within the borough of Cheshire West.

Supporting with issues such as housing, finances, budgeting, physical & mental health, life skills, accessing ESOL, integration into the UK, parenting, personal safety, education, and employment, whilst promoting independent living.

Officers' complete needs assessments and then develop individual support plans.

Working within a multi-agency framework, you will have the skills to communicate effectively with colleagues, other professionals and clients ensuring that there is a coordinated response of support.

You will need to be a strong communicator with a good understanding of the core social welfare enquiry areas of welfare benefits, money advice, housing, employment, family and immigration.

You will have experience in delivering advice and support to vulnerable people and a good understanding of safeguarding.

Your role will be to help the refugees to achieve positive outcomes through regular support planning, delivery and review and provide advice and guidance to prevent homelessness.


The posts will join the recently established team of officers which is thriving and delivering an excellent service working closely with the Home Office and partners.

We are looking for two passionate, dedicated and customer focussed officers, ideally with experience of housing or skills and employment to provide resettlement and integration support to Refugees and Asylum Seekers.


It is essential that you:

  • Have a minimum of 5 GCSE's or equivalent at Grade C or above or relevant experience.
  • Have experience of working with vulnerable people, assessing need and documenting support.
  • Have experience of working within a multiagency framework
  • Have effective communication skills and possess excellent time management skills.
  • Have an awareness of the Refugee Resettlement programmes.
  • Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Have knowledge of Data Protection/Confidentiality, safe guarding policies and procedures such as Child Protection, Safeguarding Adults and MARAC.
  • Have a flexible approach and are able to work across the borough of Cheshire West and Chester
