Breakthrough in Education has recently been presented with a new opportunity to place a teaching assistant in a specialist school located in the Bury St Edmunds area.

The school in question supports students with a diverse range of needs and offers the best quality support.

The school works closely with therapeutic partners such as art therapists and music therapists meaning it will be included in your role to encourage the young people to participate in these activities and get involved.


The school's goals and desires for its students are to encourage the students to develop their educational, emotional and practical skills and abilities, contributing to each student's well-rounded understanding of the world to prepare them for adult life.

The school also takes into account each student's independent needs, and the staff are encouraged to cater their teaching styles to suit each student's needs, in conjunction with their EHCP's.


The Role:

  • To encourage independence and inspire learning in the everyday lives of the students
  • To understand each young persons additional needs and ensure they receive the necessary support
  • Understand the Educational Health Care Plan for each student
  • Understand and maintain your safeguarding roles and responsibilities
  • Engage students in creative and enjoyable activities alongside their education
  • Support the staff within your classroom with the running of the school day

  • An empathetic and caring individual
  • Confident in a classroom environment
  • Able to understand complex needs and behaviour and have some understanding of de escalation
  • Able to take a creative approach to education and remain supportive towards all students
  • Able to build strong relationships with staff, students and parents and really become part of the school community
