As a Payroll Team Leader you will be supporting the payroll manager to deliver an accurate, timely and customer focused payroll and pension service in line with current CH policy guidelines and statutory legislation.


You have a pivotal role, focusing on ensuring that employees are paid the correct salary and benefits and that employees are added to the payroll when they are recruited and removed from the payroll when they leave.

You will be part of a team that prides themselves on delivering an excellent customer service and accurate administration to the department.


As a role model for excellent customer service and with a solution focused approach you will support all payroll and pension related enquiries and issues.

We work alongside our HR function to ensure that we can deliver improvements to our services and operational delivery.


Responsibilities:


  • Processing and checking of all payroll related changes including new starters, leavers, change of hours/work patterns, change of posts, and the childcare/cycle to work schemes.
  • Supporting the payroll manager on monthly reconciliation activity
  • Support the payroll manger on our statutory requirements, including working with HMRC and aiding in the compilation of our internal reporting requirements, as well as external requirements of ONS and Cabinet Office
  • Update customer queries and provide HR/Managers with information
  • Line management responsibility of payroll officers
  • Manage and develop internal stakeholder relationships working closely with HR Business Partners and HR Systems
  • Having a continuous improvement ethos you'll look for ways to develop and improve our processes

Experience:


Essential

  • Sound knowledge of payroll processes and statutory requirements
  • Experience in using payroll systems with itrent knowledge being highly advantageous
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills

Desirable

  • Collaboration skills to build on working relationships within the Finance directorate, HR and across the business.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize workload and meet deadlines with conflicting demands.

Technical skills:


  • Knowledge of payroll processing including calculating statutory payments and deductions from salary
