A medical device company has an exciting opportunity for a Cell Culture Technician to join its R&D team.

You will primarily be responsible for the smooth running of cell culture facility according to standard operating procedures, providing technical supportto the scientific team.

To be considered, you must have experience in cell culture and have excellent aseptic technique.


Principal Accountabilities:


  • Responsible for maintaining the cell culture platform in accordance with the R&D group leader.
  • Responsible for maintaining day to day running of the cell culture facility, including: maintaining mammalian cell lines culture and cell culture facility consumables, receiving and unpacking deliveries and preparing buffers and culture media.
  • Generating labelled cells for general laboratory use.
  • Preparing cells for routine testing of mycoplasma infection and cell authentication.
  • Keeping the cell culture facility clean, tidy and minimising contamination risks at all times.
  • Responsible for maintaining excellent cell culture documentation as appropriate within the quality system. Ensuring regulatory compliance of all work undertaken by themselves and any other work carried out in the cell culture facility.
  • Undertake additional adhoc tasks as required.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Attributes:


  • Sc. or equivalent in Life Sciences or 'A' Levels and have relevant laboratory experience;
  • Excellent aseptic technique and extensive relevant technical knowledge is required.
  • A strong understanding of the importance of accurate record keeping within a strictly controlled quality system is essential.
  • Experience in a fulltime cell culture role combined with use of cell culture equipment would be a plus;
  • Experience of working to strict quality standards such as ISO9001, preferably ISO13485 would be an advantage.
  • An eye for detail and commitment to high quality data.
  • A flexible, cando approach to the requirements of the job.
  • Strong team player.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently with mínimal supervision as well as in a team environment.
