Job Introduction

We have a great opportunity for a Business Support Assistant to join as a key member of our growing and collaborative in-house legal team.


In your role as Business Support Assistant, you'll assist the city council's legal experts in one or more core areas of work dealt with by Legal Services, primarily in Housing Litigation cases.


Ideally you'll be team player who pays close attention to detail and takes pride in your contribution to the team's success.

Role Responsibilities

  • Assist the Litigation Support Office in the administration of litigation claims including, but not limited to:
  • Opening and closing files
  • Preparing bundles for court
  • Managing the team calendar
  • Processing new claims as the arrive in the Council Offices
  • Assist in the casework of Trainees and Paralegals within the team, including appointing Counsel and other experts, arranging for invoices to be paid, and attending team meetings.
  • Accountable with the Senior and Principal Lawyer for the delivery of key performance targets for the team.
  • Establish and maintain client relationships through understanding their business needs and objectives.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to the council's values.
  • A team player who is able to work collaboratively to achieved shared goals.
  • Ability to record and handle information accurately and carefully including court dates and claim forms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organise their workload efficiently and effectively to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Ability to work at our city centre offices.
