State Street's Global Markets (SSGM) has established a Business Control function that is focused on mitigating risk from within the first line of defense by providing oversight of business risks, central management of control programs and risk governance, establishmentof reporting, implementation of corporate programs and business solutions related to operational, compliance and technology risks.

Your ability to take initiative, exercise independent thinking, juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet aggressive deadlines will be key in this fast-paced environment.

What you will be responsible for
As the SSGM EMEA Business Risk Executive, you will:

  • Lead the EMEA Business Risk Management and SSGM Global Outsourcing teams
  • Act as a valued partner to the business in the identification, assessment and mitigation of risk, and cultivation of a framework of practices which enable a balance of commercial considerations with the risk excellence objectives established by businessleadership
  • Manage, coordinate, and oversee the execution of business line risk management practices including regional risk assessments (LERA), issue and incident management, key risk indicators and control monitoring, risk acceptance, issue and incident reporting
  • Coordinate on the implementation of, and adherence to, policies, procedures and guidelines prescribed by corporate functions and business partners such as Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, Corporate Information Security, etc.
  • Provide expertise in the implementation of various programs such as market surveillance, model risk, conflicts of interest, privacy, complaints, fiduciary, fraud, and ethics
  • Advise and support Global Markets' businesses, business risk managers, and second and third lines to establish and assess controls, document selfidentified issues and incidents, and ensure compliance with regulations and corporate policies and standards
  • Liaise with regional Senior Management to provide a consolidated view of legal entity risk through committee representation and legal entity risk metrics to support informed, riskbased decision making
  • Ensure adherence to SMF delegated responsibilities
  • Assist business with comprehension and adherence to corporate outsourcing standards and advising on global transition risk assessments
  • Develop and implement change programs and solutions to resolve regulatory findings, improve the design and effectiveness of controls, and enhance business processes
  • Actively lead and participate in risk and compliance related projects
  • Participate in the strategic development of the business risk function
  • Embed a culture of risk excellence through demonstrated behavior traits
  • Manage staff for execution, career development, delegation and effective monitoring of activities assigned

Education & Preferred Qualifications:

years of experience in risk, compliance, and/or audit functions within the financial services industry

  • Knowledgeable about processes, risks and controls/control design for global markets activity
  • Previous management experience, management experience in a global organization a plus
  • Knowledge of industry regulatory requirements and experience with Global Markets businesses
