Vacancy:

We are looking to recruit a Welder and Wood Prefabrication Operative on a full-time and permanent basis. The role is based onsite in Fishponds Bristol, working Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4pm. Overtime is required.

Duties:

Perform welding and fabrication tasks according to specifications and blueprints
Assemble and weld components using various welding techniques, including stick welding
Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
Weld components using manual or semiautomatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
Ability to assemble, weld, and fabricate metal components accurately and efficiently

Qualifications and skills:

A relevant NVQ Level 2 in Welding Skills and techniques
Problemsolving abilities
Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
Familiarity with a variety of hand tools and power tools used in fabrication
Significant work experience in a similar environment

Interviews:

Interviews will take place onsite in Bristol and will include a practical assessment.

Start date:

Ideally, by the end of June 2024. Subject to satisfactory employment checks.

Pay:
£12.00-£13.00 per hour
