Assistant Solicitor - Hybrid working


The role will be responsible for providing legal support to colleagues in the in-house team working on major projects and property matters.

You will maintain ownership of files/matters and progress them to completion in accordance with instructions and guidance.


Responsibilities:


  • To manage a mixed caseload of commercial property legal matters as directed, and to deal with instructions through to post completion.
The caseload includes transactional work related to, but not limited to:
acquisitions, disposals, leases, licences, generalcontracts and other general commercial property matters. It may also include dealing with compulsory purchase orders and grant funding agreements.

  • To draft legal documents and correspondence as required for your caseload.
  • To provide support and undertake research for the inhouse team.
  • To understand the business and procedures of the client department serviced by your role, and attend any meetings as directed by your line manager.
  • To provide first point advice and signpost people to the right people and advice in more complex matters.
  • To deal with enquires raised by the client and by solicitors acting for other parties.

Experience and skills:


  • Demonstrate experience of effectively managing a mixed caseload in the relevant legal area ensuring balance of competing deadlines and client demands.
  • Possess the ability to draft concise, effective legal documents, and written communication for varying audiences at all levels of the organisation.
  • The ability to work autonomously, exercise discretion and sound judgement where necessary.
  • Demonstrate a strong collaborative approach to working.
  • Ability to continually develop legal knowledge in all areas of law, keeping up to date with appropriate law and practice to provide 'best in class' legal advice and assistance.
