The opportunity:

Are you looking for a fresh challenge? Do you have experience in data science, statistical analysis or financial modelling? If so, then the Zurich UK Predictive Modelling team would like to hear from you.


As the Predictive Modeller, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and designing specific solutions to address identified business challenges.

With support from the Lead Predictive Modeller, you will plan and collaborate with organisational unit stakeholders through the lifecycle of a project to develop advanced analytics models and produce business insights.

This role is available part-time, job-share or full time.

What will you be doing?

  • Design, develop and validate statistical models, built using GLM and a variety of modelling techniques, to underpin pricing decisions in the business.
  • Present features, predictions and insights from models in graphical, tabular and text form to a variety of end users, from nontechnical to very technical.
  • Work with the Lead Predictive Modeller, business stakeholders and colleagues across the wider Pricing, Underwriting and Data functions.
  • Translate business objectives into clearly defined advanced analytics models and produce business insights to support achievement of data and business accountabilities.
  • Analyse key themes from a wide range of internal and external data sources in order to identify data industry developments as well as how different scenarios may impact upon the business, and provide recommendations based on this analysis.
  • Contribute to the development of advanced analytics models and lead the implementation of these models, ensuring data solutions align with mediumterm business objectives and looking ahead to understand future technology options for the business.
  • Provide specialist advice to address specific technical queries from internal clients and design/develop and deliver appropriate solutions, in line with Zurich ́s policies and processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Act within a number of complex processes and procedures and use indepth knowledge to solve internal customer issues or escalate appropriately to manager, internal partners or external vendors.

What are we looking for?

Ideally, you will have:

  • Either
  • Data modelling experience (Emblem usage an advantage)
Or

  • Pricing, Reserving or Technical Underwriting experience at a P&C insurer
  • Knowledge of a data processing software (e.g. R, Python, SQL) an advantage
  • Problem solving skills
  • Experience disseminating information, instructions and providing training to others
