About the role:


The Assistance Travel team provides specialised travel services for deployment of our medical teams on rotational travel; the team support our Assistance Centres globally where our operations teams deal with our members being transported or medically evacuated.

As a Travel Consultant in the team you will offer expert travel guidance in coordinating the most logical cost-effective quotations and ticketing issuance support.

Whilst growing your expertise and knowledge on medical case transportation, you will assist the Group Operations Travel Manager and Regional Travel Managers to facilitate transition on new booking tools and internal organization.


Key responsibilities:

Working to objectives agreed with the Travel Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Create and provide the quickest routes and most cost-effective itineraries meeting as close as possible to the initial travel request.
  • Establish quotations, proposals for several alternatives
  • Ability to coordinate travel for multi passengers and escorts travelling from different origins/destinations
  • Ability to reprice and recalculate for exchanges to process reissued tickets
  • Establish or order plane/train/hotel tickets and reservations
  • Assist with visa entry requirements advice and forward to our designated partners
  • Reply to all quotations coming from the Assistance Center for any medical repatriation/evacuation or travel coordinators for rotational/deployment travel
  • Invoice all tickets issued and responsible for backoffice services, ticket amendments and refunds
  • Follow the guidelines for the operations of the Assistance Travel Centre as set in the internal policy
  • Monitor, manage and action Queues in Amadeus
  • Ensure that bookings are seen through to the end, especially monitoring if any special requests have been confirmed from the airline like oxygen, wheelchairs, extra sheets etc.
  • Facilitate effective positive teamwork and clear channels of communication both internally and externally
  • Assist as backup for daytoday work allocations and staffing of the business, report any anomalies to the Group / Regional Travel Manager
  • Assisting with training of peers / new hires on Travel policies and travel booking tools
  • Undertaking project work as requested by the Group Travel Operations Manager

About you:


  • Excellent working knowledge of a GDS system essential, preferably AMADEUS
  • Typically over 2 years experience in business travel
  • Fares and Ticketing experience essential, such as IATA Fares certificates 1 & 2 ideally
  • Good worldwide geography knowledge and very keen attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills both written and spoken, additional languages are an advantage
  • Flexibility, adaptability, capacity to handle a large number of complex travel requests, and to be able to work additional hours in the event of a crisis or major evacuation support required

Shifts:

  • Semi shift work required Mon
  • Fri 95.30pm or pm, Saturday pm (as rostered)
  • Saturdays are rostered once per month with one weekday off instead
- this position is fully office based

  • Flexibility to work from home on Saturdays and late shifts
