An exciting opportunity has arisen for 1.0 WTE Clinical Psychologists to support the growing Critical Care team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The Critical Care Psychology provision is a newly funded service, with an experienced 8c Clinical Psychologist recently appointed in post.

This additional post will therefore provide the opportunity to be involved in setting up a new service in a dynamic & highly supportive environment, where Clinical Psychology is very highly valued.

Main duties of the job


The post holder(s) will have a regular physical presence in the Critical Care areas at both the Queens Medical Centre (QMC) site & the City Hospital site in order to be physically available to support patients, their families, alongside existing Family Liaison Nurses & also to support Critical Care staff members on a face to face basis or at times, via telephone or video consultation.


The service will be delivered in collaboration and consultation with senior Psychology staff & Critical Care staff at both QMC & City Hospitals.

Supervision will be provided by the existing experienced & highly supportive Consultant Clinical Psychologist working in Critical Care.


The post holder(s) will also have the opportunity to become involved in projects such as the implementation of patient diaries, psychological screening of Critical Care patients & the psychological rehabilitation of Critical Care patients, to help shape the future development of Critical Care Psychology services within the Trust & potentially also Nationally.

Currently there are over 30 Clinical Psychologists, and Assistant and Trainee Clinical Psychologists working across a number of medical inpatient and outpatient services within the Trust.

We have excellent links with the University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University and the regional Clinical Psychology Doctorate Courses.

Person specification

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Postgraduate doctoral level (or equivalent) training, as accredited by the BPS.
  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Completion of further post qualification specialist relevant training, including training in the supervision of trainee clinical psychologists
  • Training in 2 or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan/developmental psychology
Desirable criteria

  • Postdoctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice e.g. trauma, pain management, etc.
  • Postqualification accreditation in particular psychotherapeutic approaches e

g:
cognitive behaviour therapy, ACT, Mindfulness, EMDR, etc.

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
