Trainee Accountant
Higginson & Company (UK) Limited, are a firm of Accountants based in Dunstable. They are looking to recruit a trainee/part qualified accountant. The role offers on the job training whilst studying towards the ACA or ACCA qualification.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Training to become a fully rounded accountant with exposure to each department including: Accounts, Audit, Tax, Payroll, VAT, Bookkeeping and company legal aspects.
Preparation of accounts for Sole trader\Partnership and Limited company clients.
Audit fieldwork as part of an audit team.
Direct involvement with clients.
Dealing with client queries.
Reporting to the manager/partner within the office and assisting with tasks given to them.
Bookkeeping and VAT returns for clients using IRIS Kashflow or Sage (to include: processing invoices, supplier statement reconciliations, posting bank transactions and doing bank reconciliations.
Ad hoc duties within the office which arise as part of the role, including answering the phones.

Preferred Experience and Requirements:

To have worked within an accountancy firm or within an accounts department and have some knowledge of bookkeeping and basic accounting.
Experience of using software's esp. Microsoft Excel and Sage (others an advantage)
Enthusiastic team player with a positive, hardworking approach.
Good at problem solving.
Excellent attention to detail and at following processes.
Well organised, enthusiastic and selfmotivated with an ability to prioritise and manage own time efficiently and effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Adaptable and flexible nature, with a 'can do' attitude and willing to assist where required.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications would be "A" levels and/or AAT in order to have the entry requirements to study towards the ACA or ACCA qualification.
