About the Employer
I am the mother of a boy with Autism and epilepsy. His epilepsy is controlled with medication and he has not had a serious fit in several years. He is a sometimes shy but friendly child, he is very interested in planets and space, computers and maths. He is very smart and loves to talk about his interestes. He can sometimes get stressed by crowded places and loud nosies and can get over stimulated. He has low levels of risk awareness and needs close attention when out and about.

About the Role

Responsibilities:


  • Support to get to and from school/work/college/social activities.
  • Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
  • Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
  • Promote and encourage friendships and independence.
  • Other Duties include: You will support my son with socialising and activities, particularly in attending a weekly computer club at the library but other outings such as to the cinema, swimming, cafe, bowling and going for rides on the bus.
The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.


Transport Requirement
Car driver preferred but not essential.


Required Skills:


  • Be honest, reliable, trustworthy and punctual.
  • Have good listening skills and be able to provide nonjudgemental emotional support.
  • Previous caring experience is not essential, however you should have a genuine interest in supporting people with a disability/illness to achieve their goals.
  • Have a lively personality.

Other skills include:
You will need to encourage my son to engage in activities and clubs. Times are more flexible during school holidays.


Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 4 per week


Salary:
From £10.43 per hour

  • Monday to Friday
