Band 3 Senior MLA in Cellular Pathology


Applications are invited from a suitable enthusiastic individual to work as part of a busy team with significant laboratory experience in Cellular Pathology.


This is a mixed role where you may be expected to work in all areas of Cellular Pathology and may be an opportunity assist in the Mortuary.

Applicants must be organised, motivated, have good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Experience of Cellular Pathology is required

A flexi-time system is in operation in the department.


You will be a member of a team of clerical and laboratory support staff providing support to Pathologists and Biomedical Scientists.


This will include assisting Pathologists while they perform dissection, embedding Histology samples, tissue transfer of small biopsies, preparing slides and reports for Pathologists ahead of MDT and general laboratory work in the specialist areas (Neuropathology and Immunocytochemistry).


You will demonstrate excellent organisational skills, must be flexible in approach, able to exercise initiative and demonstrate a consistently high standard of professionalism, being aware of the need for confidentiality and integrity.

  • Sorting and Booking in Histology samples
  • Tissue transfer
  • Assisting pathologists at dissection
  • Embedding tissue blocks
  • Retrieving material for MDTs
  • Cytology preparation
