Description

The Lead Freedom to Speak Up Guardian will operate independently, impartially and objectively, whilst working alongside the Integrated Care Board's leadership team, to drive forward our organisation in becoming a more open and transparent place to work, enabling a culture of 'speaking up'.

The Lead Guardian will be responsible for providing a receiving highly complex, highly sensitive and highly contentious information of a confidential nature and will be expected to hold highly persuasive, empathic and re-assurance skills.

Sometimes this information will be communicated in a highly emotive atmosphere.


The role will be key in ensuring all employees are actively encouraged, supported and enabled to speak up, helping them feel psychologically safe to do so, as well as actively promoting patient safety.


The role is responsible for developing the FTSU vision and strategy to ensure a wide speaking up culture, where speaking up is recognised and valued, driving learning and improvements across the organisation.

The Lead Guardian will develop and then provide leadership to the future organisations Guardians.

The Guardians provide confidential support and advice to individuals raising issues or concerns, including bullying and harassment, supported by the People Services, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Health and Safety ensuring the person raising concerns is provided with regular updates, investigations are progressed and recommendations implemented.
