Marks Consulting Partners are currently looking for a Service Charge Lead to work with one of our Housing Association clients in North London

What the job will be doing

  • Manage your team in line with the core management requirements to achieve excellent results by coaching, developing and supporting them to realise their full potential and deliver their objectives.
  • Support the interpretation and implementation of service charge setting requirements (for example project managing any new service charge regime, ensuring systems and processes are updated or in place by the required date)
  • Be an expert in service and personal charges, including changes in legislation and development in good practice from bodies such as the regulator of social housing and the National Housing Federation and to inform all relevant departments on changes.
  • Act as an expert in the field of service charges, in particular the 1985 & 1987 Landlord and Tenant Act and Common hold and Leasehold Reform Act 200
  • Manage the budget setting cycles and trackers for the variable and fixed service charges process, the yearend reconciliations and annual consultation process.
Assist those responsible for auctioning these processes where necessary.

  • Coordinate that service charge accounts for all variable service charge schemes are prepared, reviewed by Housing, signed off and sent to customers and recognised Residents Associations as agreed
  • Ensure service charge setting on External Managing Agency and Home Ownership schemes reflect actual costs where permitted

What you will need

  • Proven experience implementing service charges within the Housing sector.
  • Experience of communicating with a wide variety of people and organisations.
  • Experience of working as part of a team that objectives are met
  • System Knowledge:Intermediate level Northgate, Intermediate level Ensemble
  • Effective IT skills including intermediate MS Office skills
  • Understanding of landlord and tenancy obligations containedin Occupancy Agreements (Freehold documents, Leases & Tenancy Agreements)
  • Line management experience, i.e. setting targets, conducting regular 11's and appraisals
  • Knowledge of accounting processes relating to service charges and varying methods of allocation & apportionment of service charge costs
