KIMS Hospital is the largest independent hospital in Kent and we are recruiting.We have an exciting opportunity for a caring and dynamic care support worker to join our state of the art Imaging Department as an Imaging Assistant.
Our Sevenoaks Medical Centre team consists of Nurses, Care Support Workers, Radiographers, Physical Therapists and administrators to provide outpatient and diagnostic services to the local community across to a full range of clinical specialties, including orthopaedics, dermatology, urology, gynaecology, gastroenterology and more.
As an imaging assistant you will assist our Radiographers and Staff Nurses with a wide range of diagnostic procedures whilst providing an excellent standard of patient centred care at all times.
This role is suitable for anyone who holds an NVQ 2 (or equivalent) in health and social care and has previously worked in a health care environment as a Care Support Worker, Health Care Assistant, Clinical Support Worker, Imaging Assistant or Nursing Assistant.
This role is a bank role and therefore a zero hours contract working flexibly to cover absence and fluctuating Centre volumes.
Role Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring patients comfort when in the ultrasound environment, ensuring confidentiality and dignity are preserved at all times.
- Assist the Radiologist in the preparation and after care of patient undergoing ultrasound examinations.
- Assist the Lead Radiologist in collecting comprehensive records of patient outcomes, including communicating results to the GP's and referring consultants.
- In the breast ultrasound clinics assist the Radiologist undertaking procedures such as insertion of wires and markers, biopsies & aspirations. Ensuring that the equipment is set up correctly, collecting the biopsy sample in accordance to local policy and sending the sample to pathology for testing.
- Ensure correct record keeping for the patient
Person Specification:
- Hold a minimum NVQ Level 2 in health and Social Care or Equivalent.
- Have a knowledge of the radiology workflow (including knowledge of RIS, PACS and Compucare).
- Be a caring and compassionate individual
- Be able to demonstrate high levels of mental resilience in order to work in a changing and often challenging environment
- Have experience as an Imaging Assistant / Care Support Worker working within an Imaging Department at a hospital or clinical setting.
