From 1st April 2023, Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals NHS Trust will be joining together with St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust as part of a TUPE process to form a new collaborative NHS Trust.

We are currently awaiting confirmation of the name of the new Trust.


Any applicants who secure an offer of employment and/ or are due to commence their new role from 1st April 2023 onwards are advised that their conditional offer and contract of employment will be issued as per our normal recruitment process but will be under the new name of the organisation.

The department provides a 7 day imaging service, and therefore the post will include evening, weekend and bank holiday duties.

  • To provide a comprehensive administrative service in dealing effectively and efficiently with processing of daily workloads, and ad hoc office duties.
  • Ensure cross cover working where appropriate.

KEY DUTIES

  • Type Radiology reports on the Radiology Information System (RIS) from digital dictation.
  • Ensure all reports are distributed promptly to the referring clinician and specialist team where appropriate.
  • Ensure all coded reports are tracked through the Failsafe procedure.
  • Ensure appropriate follow up investigations are in place and liaise with Modality Appointments supervisors accordingly.
  • Mentor and train relevant staff as required by the Administration Services Coordinator.
  • Deal appropriately with concerns from staff in line with Trust policy
  • Accurate use of patient information using the Patient Administration System (PAS), including registration screen to check patient details are correct.
  • Ensure efficient audit processes in place concerning correspondence to ensure quality levels maintained and rectify accordingly.
  • Obtain information requested by Administration Services Coordinator.
  • Be able to work as part of a team, promote effective flows in the department to cover leave to ensure office runs smoothly.
  • Attend appropriate training, meetings and education sessions at the request of manager.
  • Work with managers to review working practices, ways of working and find solutions to problems.
  • Work in a flexible manner in accordance with the Trust Policy.
  • Make appointments following appropriate imaging services pathways.
  • When the patient is in contact with the appointment office:
  • Ask the appropriate clinical questions to assess appropriate preparation and time slot
  • Discuss with the patient a mutually convenient date and time
  • Book the appointment on the Radiology Information System
  • Send an appointment letter, appropriate literature and preparation to the patient
  • Arrange appointments for inpatient referrals:
  • Book appointment on the Radiology Information System
  • Liaise with the ward to arrange patient preparation and mode of transport
  • Access ADT to locate patient
  • Book porter on the Radiology Information System
  • General Telephone enquiries relating to patient requests to
