The Role
We are currently seeking a highly capable and motivated Team Leader to lead the Grid Connection team. The individual will have experience in the technical, regulatory, and commercial aspects of the electricity network.

The wider Connections Team performs specialist power system studies for connecting different generator technologies and energy storage systems to the electrical grid.

Duties and responsibilities include;

  • Lead and manage the Grid Connections team
  • Perform and manage connection projects for a range of clients
  • Line manage team members, including conducting appraisals and preparing training plans.
  • Work with the Team Manager to:
  • Facilitate effective management and growth of the team and workload.
  • Manage resources and coordination of the team to ensure efficient delivery of projects and use of consultant time.
  • Identify skills gaps, training needs, and recruitment needs to meet business plan targets, client needs, and overall company strategy.
  • Work with the Connections Team Director to carry out focused BD and sales tasks for industrial clients.
  • Ensure quality assurance of all team deliverables, including proposals and project reports.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships and manage partnerships with other consultancies and industry bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and other legislative and company requirements.
  • Supporting clients throughout the connections process; beginning from early site finding/grid feasibility stages to the management of the compliance process on behalf of the client.
  • Carrying out high level network connection assessments and feasibility studies including identifying project risks and providing cost estimates.
  • Carrying out high level constraint analysis.
  • Supporting clients through the post Connection Offer acceptance period through to commissioning and testing.
  • Leading and/or contribute to other types of projects.
Essential requirements;

  • Extensive experience delivering some or all of the tasks outlined above.
  • Strong quantitative degree in electrical engineering (preferably), other relevant engineering degree, maths, or physics.
  • Motivated and selfdriven individuals with an ambition to work within the electricity industry.
  • Demonstrable experience / knowledge of the UK electricity regulatory framework.
  • Wellrounded individual with the ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects, communicating with clients as required.
  • Project management, project engineering and project development experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of GB standards and codes.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both technical and nontechnical personnel.
  • The ability to manage their own time and deliver multiple projects on time/budget, managing client expectations and scope changes as required.
Desirable requirements;

  • The ability to appreciate a developer's perspective and identify their priorities.
  • Knowledge and experience of generator compliance/commissioning process, including Operational Notification compliance Process.
  • Postgraduate degree in electrical engineering.
  • Capability in IPSA, Python, or other modelling languages.
  • Cost/benefit analysis experience.
  • Computer modelling/ programming skills.
  • Experience of network modelling and power systems analysis.
