I am currently recruiting for a Building Maintenance Officer / Handyman to join us on a Full Time permanent basis completing day to day repairs on the accommodation block based in Chelmsford.


The Role.


Working on the outskirts of Bloomfield Hospital we have an overnight accommodation block for keyworkers, Doctors, Nurses etc to stay overnight if they wish to.

Your role will be to look after the premises, complete and report repairs and general upkeep ofthe building inside and out.


Your typical Day.

  • Keep records of all equipment, keys, stock items and general materials.
  • Evaluate and organise workload to maximise cost efficiency and minimise repair time
  • Undertake minor repairs. Report major repairs.
  • Manage own workload to ensure repair deadlines are met.
  • To respond to emergency calls with the minimum of delay and to comply with the published response times.
  • To take special note of Health and Safety at Work Standards; to use protective clothing and safety equipment when appropriate.
  • Subject to training to carry out all necessary portable appliance testing and statutory fire alarm tests.
  • Ensure that duties are carried out in accordance with Health and Safety policy and procedures and that statutory compliance checks are conducted within agreed timescales.
  • Complete the following H&S checks as required, Estate Inspections, Emergency Lighting, Legionella testing and fire door checks.
