Chief Corporate Affairs Office


Inmarsat's Chief Corporate Affairs Office (CAO) oversees several key areas - Company Secretarial, Enterprise Risk Management, Governance and Compliance, alongside marketing communications and managing the activities in India, China, Russian/the Stans and Turkey.

Primary role purpose:

Key Responsibilities:


  • Coordinating with the Director Corporate Compliance on matters of compliance
  • Review and clear automated compliance blocks in SAP and SFDC as well as maintaining the 'Good Guy' list within AEB.
  • Reviewing the weekly ESAS activations linked to sanctioned countries and where necessary bar terminals in line with processes.
  • Be responsible for managing, reviewing and clearing all automated screening across all businesses, escalating matter to the SMCC as necessary.
  • Responsible for ensuring services to sanctioned parties are barred in line with company policy and all internal stakeholders are managed
  • Review KYBP monitoring for any risk changes to suppliers notifying procurement and contracts as needed.
  • Assist Corporate Compliance Director with internal investigations and reviews as needed
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all applicable regulations affecting the UK business and provide guidance on any changes in US and European sanctions regulations
  • Support the SMCC on specific projects and ad hoc compliance matters as needed;

Essential Knowledge and Skills:


  • Experience of working with and understanding International Sanctions with a specific focus on OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) sanctions.
  • Previous experience in dealing with KYC/CDD screening and associated software e.g. Dow Jones, Orbis etc.
  • Ability to work in environment with complex processes, systems, and organisational structures with limited supervision.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of management and employees and external counsel.
  • Proactive, well organised, and motivated to deliver highlevel performance with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to be a team player, recognise red flag issues, and willingness to coordinate across divisions to obtain relevant information to complete key responsibilities.
  • A team player with high energy, a "can do attitude" and the ability to challenge others (when necessary); and

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:


  • Experience and or knowledge of anticorruption legislation with a focus on the (UK Bribery Act) and U.S. FCPA regulations and compliance best practices.
  • Experience with other areas of Compliance such as Export Control
  • Legal or internal audit or company secretarial background with exposure to the compliance areas will be helpful.
Training and Auditing, experience - proactive in approach to problem resolution
