What does the role look like?


The Buyer is responsible for the day-to-day communication with the supplier to ensure deliveries are on time, with any failures being alerted to prior, to mitigate any line stops internally.

You will need to build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, internal & external, to enable smooth communication resulting in on time deliveries.


You will be driven in the sense that you push yourself to achieve high output and fulfil goals set by yourself and management.

We are looking for someone who is meticulous with the detail while taking the methodical common-sense approach to tasks and problems.


You must be committed to getting the job done and establishing a productive network of stakeholders at all levels internally and externally.

There is large element of problem solving both as an individual and as a team with a requirement to negotiate at an entry level.


What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

  • Order book management for a multitude of suppliers you will be responsible for
  • Raise & amend purchase/scheduled orders
  • Resolve invoice queries and issue RFQs
  • Challenge and notify appropriately all pricing changes
  • Provide critical updates/delivery status to key internal stakeholders through meeting and use of escalation file
  • Engage with functions outside of supply chain (Finance, Engineering, Operations, programmes etc.) to ensure a timely resolution of supply chain issues
  • Keeping escalation files updated with key current information in order for stakeholders to relay and act accordingly
  • Review personal internal stats (Metrics) on various aspects of the job to analyse and action
  • Working with your Account Manager to develop solutions that move the business forward
  • Action focused, driven to deliver concrete and sustainable results.
  • Engineering knowledge/exposure is advantageous with a keen eye on quality
  • Assist the Account Manager on account reviews and projects in relation to your suppliers
  • Be proactive to mitigate and minimise supply chain risks, to prevent critical line stops
  • Work with New Product Introduction (NPI) teams and engineering to ensure that new requirements and amendments are quickly identified and that supply solutions are in place to meet project timescales
  • Work with account managers and commodity managers on supplier strategy inline with business requirements
  • Negotiate with and manage cost for suppliers in support of Commodity strategy and business financial performance as well as cost reduction targets
  • Timely resolve and manage supplier payment and invoice issues
  • Facilitate stakeholder reviews and action outcomes supporting change management and transfer programmes
  • Understanding suppliers sub cons and sub suppliers to follow the production path and assist in improvements
