About the role:

In this role you will be providing an essential service to our client schools and MATS offering high-quality strategic internal audit/scrutiny support

This could cover all areas within a school or MAT such as financial, health and safety, safeguarding or any area in which the school must uphold the highest standards and adhere to the toughest regulatory responsibility.

Therefore it's essential that you have/or are willing to gain a thorough understanding of how schools operate to ensure you can become a truly strategic partner, able to provide that support, guidance and be able to effectively conduct audits in areas needed.

You will take the operational lead and appropriate level of delivery on the Internal Scrutiny portfolio in conjunction with the Audit Manager.

Working with and supporting CEOs, CFOs, head teachers, school business managers and governors in Schools to raise awareness of the processes and procedures required and further develop and strengthen relevant school and or MAT processes and systems.

This is a fast paced
- challenging, but highly rewarding role where you will have some flexibility and autonomy to work in the best way for you and your clients.

However what this means is that while these roles are offered remotely, there is an expectation to work effectively within the core operating hours
9-5.30 to ensure you can effectively work as part of a team, and to travel as required to visit clients if needed.


Role Holder Requirements

About you:

We are looking for an ambitious, proactive and self-motivated person, comfortable with managing their own time.

A natural problem solver, and passionate about continuous professional development you will always be looking at new ways of working, open to change and any challenges that arise.

You will be agile in your approach and be comfortable working at home, in an office and on-site at a school or academy trust with your clients when needed.

The ideal applicant will be a qualified or newly qualified accountant through a recognised professional body (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, IIA) with an external/internal audit background or similar relevant experience.

If you have experience working in the education sector, through auditing schools or academy trusts or colleges, this would be ideal.

We would also consider applicants who have proven operational experience working within schools/MATs/colleges and a background in financial or internal auditing.

For example, a Business Manager or other role where you have a good understanding of the financial and operational needs of schools, academy trusts or colleges.

There is flexibility with qualifications, and your combination of experience providing you can demonstrate your suitability in the majority of areas, and how you could work well in this role
