This well regarded, oversubscribed, Ofsted Outstanding nursery in Cheam, Sutton, Surrey are actively seeking 3 Early Years Educator Apprentices.

Your responsibilities will include supporting children in play and learning activities, everyday care routines such as meal and sleep times, enhancing the environment with creative and exciting ideas, observing and record keeping of children's development and planning to meet their individual needs supported by establishing positive relationships with parents and carers.


You will need to support the managers and team in the day to day running of the room including keeping children safe and following the early years foundation stage statutory framework.


Apprentice Responsibilities:


  • To provide high quality care and education for all children within our settings.
  • To learn the planning format supporting children's development, including children's interests and next steps and contribute to these plans.
  • Carry out planned activities with groups of children with early years workers to help support and guide.
  • To follow nursery routines and activities, offering attention and support to all children.
  • To observe and record children's development contributing to their learning journey.
  • To have small group of key children and be responsible for tracking their development with support of room leader and team.
  • To use initiative supporting the environment and activity ideas to create excitement and awe for the children.
  • Actively promote each child's self
- esteem.

  • Awareness of duty to safeguard all children within our care.

Desired Skills:


  • The ability to relate and interact with children.
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with parents, carers and other childcare professionals.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Good observation and organisational skills.
  • A willingness to learn new skills and ability to identify when they need support.
  • A reasonable level of IT skills would be an advantage.

Future Prospects:

Ongoing training and development in partnership with NESCOT College. Within our business, we will encourage and support our apprentices through guidance and training on and off the job. This will give apprentices the opportunity to progress into permanent full time positions should vacancies arise.


We actively encourage our staff to develop their skills professionally through succession planning and further qualifications such as team leading.
