Our
Targeted Youth Support (TYS) service are inviting creative individuals who enjoy working with adolescents and their families to join the team and help make a difference to our young people's lives.

Surrey's TYS service works with young people at risk of offending, family breakdown, homelessness, sexual and criminal exploitation.

We provide help at the point that problems emerge, preventing the need for more specialist services further down the line.

We also hold the Youth Offending function for the County, supervising young people in the Youth Justice System in Surrey.

We support some of the county's most vulnerable young people to ensure they have the best chance of thriving and succeeding as adults.

As a member of our team you will be working alongside social workers, other partner agencies and the voluntary sector to support children and their families in the community.

You will be well supported and training will be provided to ensure competence andprofessional development so that you are confident in your role.

We will also ensure you receive a full induction and monthly supervision.


As a
Senior Practitioner, you will provide experience and leadership for practice within the TYS Team and will work with some of the most complex young people and families that the service supports.

You will use your experience to supportthe training and mentoring of new and less experienced staff and model best practice in all you do.

This is a bridging role, which means you will assist the Team Manager in supporting staff across the team, offering consultation and joint working.


Here are the qualities, skills & experiences we are looking for in our Targeted Youth Support Practitioners:

  • The ability to engage with young people and their families/carers
  • Experience of working with adolescents and the ability to demonstrate how your work has resulted in positive outcomes
  • Experience in supporting colleagues in managing risk and effecting positive change
  • Good written and verbal skills

An enhanced DBS 'Disclosure and Barring Service' check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children's and Adults' Barred List checks will be required for this role.
