Mission of the position:


Working across all UK CAF Projects the Assessor / Trainer will be responsible for the Safety Critical Assessment of CAF and supporting the technical training of both CAF & Client staff when required as well as training material development.


The Assessor / Trainer is responsible for helping to develop and support both Safety Critical assessment plans and technical / non-technical training plans at a project level.

Responsible to the Head of Compliance you will ensure effective implementation of Railway Group Standards, Industry Codes of Practice, strategies and policies significant to the safe use, operation, and maintenance of Traction & Rolling Stock.


You will also be responsible for assisting CAF Rail UK in maintaining the integrity of its ROG compliance as well as supporting risk management and safety performance activities.


Functions and responsibilities:

- _Safety-_ Support the implementation of the CAF Rail UKs' Safety, Health Environment and Quality (SHEQ) strategy, associated actions and resulting initiatives, to deliver continuous improvement in all areas.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability

  • Ensure effective systems are in place to manage training & competence across all locations and a 90% (minimum) level of competence is maintained on all projects.
  • Coordinate & support the planning of training and recertification of CAF Team Members, both Critical and Non-Safety Critical Staff.
  • Analyse, forecast, plan and monitor the competency management activities and feedback to Operations Managers / Head of Compliance.
  • Maintain the electronic Competence Management System.
  • Help in the development of etraining and assessment documentation.
  • Assist with Technical, Safety & Incident investigations as required.
  • Attend meetings as the business requires
  • Participate in HSQE meetings and activities as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all company standards and procedures

Training required:


Essential

  • Served a recognised engineering apprenticeship
  • Educated to a HNC/D level in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or have relevant experience)
  • Hold or be working towards a minimum of a L3 Certificate in Education & Training (or equivalent)
  • Hold or be working towards a minimum of a L3 Certificate Assessing Vocational Achievement (or equivalent)
  • Hold a Full & Clean UK Driving License
  • Experienced & proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat

Desirable

  • Experienced & proficient in using using electronic competence management software/systems
  • Experienced & proficient in using Articulate 360 or Adobe Captivate software
  • Experienced & proficient in using Microsoft Teams & One Drive
  • Experienced in reading & using CAF schematics
  • Experience of working in a heavy rail maintenance environment

Required professional experience:


  • Have experience of working within a Traction and Rolling Stock training environment.
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of rail industry standards relating to Traction & Rolling Stock, including operational safety, and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Be willing to undertake further training as the post dictates.
  • Have the natural ability to engage with staff across all levels & projects within CAF Rail UK.
  • Previous experience in leadership, mentorship and strong stakeholder management.

    Technical and/or practical knowledge valued:
