Role Purpose:

The
ELTI Tutoring Initiative was established in 2020 in response to the restrictions in schooling due to Covid-19. It aims to address the disruption to secondary school education caused by these restrictions.

The primary aim is to support disadvantaged students attending High Schools in Mid or East Lothian to achieve the best grades they can in their National 4, National 5 or Higher assessments.

Sessions will be delivered both online and in-person depending on the needs of the individual pupils and the schools.

Essential Experience:

Applicants should have previous experience of working with children and/or young people in a voluntary or paid capacity.


Essential Qualities:


Applicants should be:

  • Able to develop relationships with a diverse group of people.
  • Able to work on their own.
  • Willing to contribute to team development of a project.
  • Creative and innovative.

Contract Basis:

Tutors will be engaged with Theorise Ltd either on a Contract for Services or on a Self

  • Employed Consultancy Agreement depending on their preference. All tutors would be asked to commit to the term of the tutoring programme, and be willing to give at least twoweeksnotice if required to leave the programme.


While 10 hours of tutoring is the average number of contact hours/week, this is not fixed and there will be flexibility to take on more hours as required.

We ask that tutors commit to a minimum of 6 hours contact time per week.


Tutors will be based in one of the council areas (either Mid or East Lothian) and may be required to travel to schools or community hubs to deliver sessions.

Travel expenses will be paid.


Contract Basis:

All tutors will be required to attend training in February 2023 prior to commencing tutoring. Tutors will also be required to attend supplementary training over the course of the programme. All training time will be paid.


Tutors will need a Disclosure Form prior to commencing tutoring: a Disclosure update will be needed if a tutor already holds a Disclosure Form for a previous role.

Work with pupils will commence following training in February 2023 and continue until mid-Spring 2023.
