At the hospital you will care for a unique variety of animal welfare cases; predominantly cats, dogs and wildlife species.
We're looking for a Hospital Assistant to join us who is confident, works well under pressure and is self motivated to work independently for the cause of animal welfare.
We operate a
three shift system for this role amounting to 35 hours per week, including
nights (seven nights on, seven off),
lates, weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.
Here's some of the key work you'll be doing:
- Undertaking nursing duties including theatre, ward and front of house duties as directed
- Undertaking, on a roster basis, emergency and out of hours cover including night work
- Undertaking general cleaning duties throughout the hospital including equipment, animal quarters and premises
- Maintaining up to date and accurate clinical records for every animal that comes into the hospital
- Dispensing drugs in accordance with professional guidelines and hospital rules
- Carrying out telephone and general reception duties on a roster basis as required
- Taking accurate payments from clients for veterinary services received at the time of consultation in line with RSPCA policy
What we are looking for in you:
- It is
essential that you have previous experience of animal care work, preferably in a clinical setting - Selfmotivation and an ability to manage your own time
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to demonstrate teamwork with veterinary animal centre and Inspectorate colleagues
- An NVQ Level 2 in Animal Care or equivalent e.g. VCA, ANA is desirable
