Description

AK Teaching Middlesbrough is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Functional Skills Tutor with experience working with secondary-aged learners, some have special educational needs.

This rewarding role could involve providing support to some students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and other complex needs.

Responsibilities:

Delivering functional skills sessions tailored to the individual needs of secondaryaged learners.
Creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with special educational needs.
Managing and addressing challenging behaviours with patience and a positive approach.
Collaborating with school staff and AK Teaching West Yorkshire to implement effective teaching strategies.
Developing and implementing personalized learning plans for students with diverse needs.

Qualifications:

Relevant teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
Experience working with secondaryaged learners with ASD, ADHD, and complex needs.
Comfortable working on a supply basis with flexibility for both shortterm and longterm assignments.

Skills and Attributes:

Empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by learners with special educational needs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles.
Patience and resilience in managing challenging behaviours.
Flexibility and willingness to work on a supply basis

Salary:
£85.00-£110.00 per hour
