Job Title:
Customs Clerk with Freight Forwarding Experience
Hours:
Monday to Friday - 9am - 5:30pm
Salary:
£25K - £30K

Job Overview:
Responsibilities:
1.
Customs Documentation:
- Prepare and process customs documentation, including but not limited to commercial invoices, packing lists, and shipping manifests.
- Ensure all documentation complies with customs regulations and requirements.

Import/Export Compliance:
- Stay updated on changes in import/export laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Ensure shipments adhere to all relevant customs compliance standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams to address and resolve any compliance issues.
1.
Freight Forwarding:
- Coordinate and liaise with freight forwarders to arrange the transportation of goods.
- Track and monitor the movement of shipments to ensure timely and accurate delivery.

Customs Declarations:
- Prepare and submit customs declarations accurately and promptly.
- Communicate with customs authorities to resolve any issues or discrepancies in declarations.

Tariff Classification:
- Classify goods according to tariff schedules and ensure proper duty rates are applied.
- Provide guidance on tariff classification to internal stakeholders.

Record Keeping:
- Maintain organised and up-to-date records of all customs-related documentation.
- Assist in the development and implementation of record-keeping procedures.

Communication:
- Communicate effectively with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and internal teams.
- Provide timely updates on the status of shipments and customs clearance.

Problem Resolution:
- Proactively identify and address any issues related to customs clearance.
- Work collaboratively with team members to resolve challenges and prevent delays.
Qualifications:
- Experience as a Customs Clerk in the logistics/shipping industry.
- Indepth knowledge of import/export regulations, customs procedures, and tariff classifications.
- Familiarity with freight forwarding processes and documentation requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced and dynamic environment.
