About the role:

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and passionate individuals to provide children and young people (CYP's) palliative by working as a family support worker at the hospice and within the community setting.

Children's palliative care involves delivering short respite breaks aimed at having fun and 'adding life' to shortened years as well as end of life care.

We are looking for individuals who will enjoy supporting and signposting families, developing offers of support, visiting families in their homes, alongside creating an outreach programme providing families and carers opportunities to come together to socialise and gain emotional and practical support.

These groups may include coffee mornings, evening social events and parent pamper sessions.

The post holder will work closely with the lead engagement nurse, community key workers, social workers, activities team, therapists and pastoral and spiritual lead to provide exemplary care and support so that children and families can be supported to add life to shortened years.

We value the vital role of family support within the hospice and you will be supported to work autonomously.

You do not need to have experience of working in palliative care as we offer a comprehensive development programme along with inhouse training which supports all our staff to achieve skills and confidence.

This role will provide you with job satisfaction, knowing that every day you have given exceptional care.

The role will be based at the Eastbourne office with a requirement to travel across Sussex and to the hospice in Arundel and will involve some evening and weekend work.

Due to the remote location and lack of public transport, access to your own transport is essential.
