Applications are welcome for the above fixed term, full time (40hours per week) post based in St John's Hospital.The posts with SJH Medical Unit
- and out-patient work with procedural training if required for the specialty) while doing out of hours work in Acute Medicine. Areas of work will include acute care, specialty experience and continued care of patients on downstream specialist wards.
The posts within Hospital at Home (2 posts)
Hospital at Home West Lothian was established in 2013, a collaboration between West Lothian Health & Social Care Partnership and NHS Lothian, providing an alternative to an acute hospital admission.
The post-holders will provide medical input into the care and assessment of frail older patients in the community, developing skills to assess and manage acute illness in the context of multi-morbidity, manage complex end stage disease including palliative care, and work closely within the multidisciplinary team under close Consultant supervision.
These posts comprise 9 sessions of direct clinical care and 1 session of development time, during which the post-holder will be encouraged and supported to undertake an area of interest such as quality improvement, service development, teaching or subspecialty training.
The post will provide excellent experience for those wishing to develop the skills of complex patient management that underpin Geriatric Medicine.
These are full time posts but applicants wishing to work less than full time will be considered. There is no out of hours or on-call commitment for these posts.The post does not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean and will not be recognised for training.
