Midlands Partnership University Foundation Trust (MPUFT) Facilities & Estates Portering team are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and well organised Porter to join our team.


The post holder will provide an efficient and effective portering service, working in a self-motivated and professional manner at all times.

We are looking for people to join our team of porters at Redwoods Centre site, Shrewsbury.

In this role you will be expected to provide an efficient, effective and flexible portering service to all our customers.

Communication and face to face contact with patients, visitors and all staff, wearing of smart uniform for patient facing duties working inside and outside the buildings.

Full uniform and PPE will be provided.


Tasks will include the collection and delivery of all medical and non-medical items as and when required by the Trust, this will include the movement of patient's goods, stores, linen, food, pharmacy items, medical records/notes and boxes/waste and also the driving of vehicles therefore a driving license is essential.

The Portering/Transport staff will ensure that patients', equipment, linen and post are in the correct place at the correct time and that the premises and the people using them are kept safe.


To ensure overall levels of service within the Directorate it may be necessary for the post holder to work at other locations reasonably requested by the Trust.

All employees must be flexible where the service requires the post holder to work within areas of their department and capabilities in addition to the normal tasks identified in this document.


The post holder will be expected to work as part of the wider Facilities team, providing an integrated and flexible service, and as such may sometimes be required to undertake duties within other areas of the Department should the needs of the service demand it.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Main Duties and Responsibilities:


Portering:

Maintain stock control

Unload, check and sign for incoming goods against official paperwork

Deliver, issue and collect orders and supplies to/from wards and departments for example linen service, patient meals, diet lists, mail, internal mail, stationery, general stores, disposables and consumables, medical supplies, clinical specimens and medical equipment, furniture and equipment

Deal with enquiries/requests both internally and externally

Maintain and keep up to date records in relation to duties

Collect refuse and clinical waste around the site and ensure its safe storage and disposal

Contribute to the provision of reports and schedules including undertaking general asset register counts

Keep stores and portering work areas/office clean and tidy

Sort internal mail, Royal Mail delivery and frank outgoing post as required

Carry out furniture moves within and off site

Carry out ad hoc cleaning as per work schedule or requested by supervisor

Set up meeting and seminar rooms as required


Transport:

Provide services between departments, wards, premises and sites including the collection and delivery of medical supplies and controlled drugs, equipment, medical records, clerical data, mail and linen

If applicable, give transport assistance to patients and visitors to enable them to get around the site safely


Ensure that all vehicles are used in a responsible and secure manner and that daily basic maintenance checks are carried out and recorded.


Security:

Responsible for dealing appropriately with action required whilst carrying a mobile phone in line with portering and security duties

Undertake general security inspections and duties on the Trust premises


Other:

Support the supervisor on a day to day basis
