Job overview:

The Compliance Officer is responsible for carrying out environmental audits in locations as outlined in the annual audit schedule.

Functioning as an independent and objective auditor working within the Facilities Department, the post holder will monitor,review and evaluate compliance against a range of environmental standards and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's); outlining and monitoring recommendations to remedy any shortfall in standards.


Post holders will be expected to support the Compliance Manager working across four hospital sites to ensure cleaning standards, estates maintenance and nursing equipment used to deliver patient care is clean, fit for purpose and well maintained.

Using NHS Cleaning Standards as the benchmark standards, post holders will assess compliance against environmental guidelines and regulations to provide recommendations and actions required to correct non-conformance or improve overall environmental performance.


Main duties, tasks & skills required:

  • Help signpost and support employees who would like to communicate with management, seek clarification on issues or dilemmas, or report irregularities
  • Establish effective two way channels of communication with staff working in the area being audited and the wider Facilities Team including Housekeeping and Portering
  • To be a supportive point of contact with clinical teams regarding Facilities compliance requirements, advising on irregularities and liaising with the Compliance Manager on any additional arrangements
  • Attend meetings at the request of the Compliance Manager.
  • Support the dissemination of written policies and procedures related to compliance activities
  • Document compliance activities, such as audit reports, complaints received or investigation outcomes
  • Be an active member of the Facilities Team
  • Share examples of good practice within the Facilities Team with the Compliance Manager.
  • Assist with the preparation of audit reports and presentations as required by the Director of Facilities and Head of Facilities (QE/HGS)

  • Good Secondarylevel qualifications (Including Maths and English)
  • Business Management Diploma or equivalent experience that demonstrates that level of theoretical Knowledge.
