This is a 12 month locum post to help manage the increasing demand on the glaucoma service.


The post holder will be expected to contribute to the general ophthalmic and cataract service and flexibility is required to meet the departments service commitment to delivery of efficient, safe and high quality patient care.


The successful applicant will participate in outpatient activity leading and managing both specialist glaucoma and general ophthalmology clinics, be involved in preoperative management prior to surgery, and in all aspects of the operative care of the patients.

It is anticipated that the surgeon will spend the equivalent of at two sessions in the operating theatre and three/four sessions a week in outpatient clinic in addition to administrative, management, clinical governance and supporting professional activity duties.

S/he will work closely with clinical colleague, nursing and other allied health care staff in order to enhance the level of patient care at the Trust.
