Macmillan Support Services working within the Palliative Care Teams across North Tyneside and Northumberland community are excited to offer a Band 5 Coordinator post to join their established team.


The post holder will support the team lead in the ongoing development and maintenance of the Macmillan Bereavement and Support Service.

The coordinator will offer a listening service and support in a variety of locations across the localities for the benefit of all people affected by cancer, long term conditions and those who require bereavement support.

The post holder will be expected to implement and deliver a training programme for staff, volunteers and health care professionals and provide ongoing coordination to our wonderful experienced volunteers who provide patient and family support as well as bereavement support to service users in the community.

We are looking for a compassionate, motivated individual with excellent communication and listening skills.

Experience of working in palliative care with an understanding of the disease trajectory as well as previous experience in supervising others is desirable.


We are looking for an individual who can work as a self directed autonomous professional offering direct client contact with the ability to work with service users of health/social care.


The use of analytical skills will be required in complex situations to inform decision making and refer clients to appropriate health and social care professionals and/or suggest relevant agency support.


It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role.
